Card Making Ministry

Card Making Ministry at Trinity Presbyterian Church

Our card making ministry exists to spark love and joy through friendship and creativity. Every woman, whatever her age, is welcome here, and we firmly believe that artistic ability lives in everyone. The pleasure we take in crafting cards travels first to the person who gives them and then to the person who receives them.

The ministry started in 2010, when we chose to create greeting cards and accept donations for them as a way to raise mission funds. A few years later, just as we were asking ourselves whether to keep going, something remarkable happened. On one Saturday, two church members at two different yard sales each discovered hundreds of rubber stamps, and Pam Bloom, Becky Keefe and her friend kindly gave them to our ministry. Right on top of the pile sat a set of stamps bearing the words blessed, grace and believe — a true sign from God.

In 2015 we were blessed once more. Card makers Dee Fassett and her sister Elsie Aunger put together a reference notebook, organizing and numbering all 700 stamps in our cupboard, which now holds a work of art all its own. Over the years, the donations collected for our cards have gone to a range of charities. In the fall of 2015 and the spring of 2016, we broadened the ministry with card making events for the Presbyterian women of Ashtabula; these creative gatherings introduced card making techniques, and each participant went home with cards she had made. Through God's grace, we are inspired to bring joy to others, and we feel truly blessed.
